Howard Dickman, PhD, LP and Richard Sethre, PsyD, LP have general practices of psychology, and each also provide more specialized services.  Both can help people with the problems that are most commonly treated by psychologists and other mental health clinicians:

  • assessment, diagnosis and treatment planning
  • depression
  • anxiety
  • situational stresses (work problems, financial crises, and other stressful situations)
  • relationship problems
  • coping problems (difficulty speaking up, stress management, self-soothing – all of which benefit help with learning new psychological skills)

Both Dr. Dickman and Dr. Sethre have a special interest in Health Care Psychology, which helps people with complex medical problems or “co-occurring” medical and mental health problems. This may involve helping them manage the stress of the illness, helping improve “treatment compliance” (doing what the treating medical clinician is recommending), and improving self care in order to fight back against the illness (reducing weight, getting better sleep, being more active, reducing stress, and more).  For patients with both mental health and medical problems, working on their mental health problems can help them do better with their medical problems.

Dr. Dickman and Dr. Sethre work closely with their patients’ medical clinicians to coordinate psychological and medical care.

Dr. Dickman and Dr. Sethre also provide specialized services, and contact information is available by clicking on these links. Both would be glad to talk with you about what they may be able to offer to help with with your concerns, and may be contacted by phone or email.
